The Toxic Substances Control Act gives the EPA the permission and power to track all 75,000 chemicals used throughout the U.S. In addition, the EPA tests these chemicals to make sure that they do not pose a threat to the environment or human health and they can ban chemicals that they feel are hazardous . The EPA also tracks different chemicals that they feel are dangerous and have the power to eliminate them if they found they are hazardous in any way ("Summary of the Toxic" 2008).
